Duration and timing of your stay – also important factor

We also advise you to consider the duration of your stay as well.

If you come only for a couple of days, it is better to stay in a Budapest hotel located in the downtown area. If you plan to stay for longer time, the perfect choice is a comfy, lovely, friendly, not too expensive little hotel located on Buda side.

It is, however, not worth of coming for a very short duration – you will be sorry to have to leave so soon! The shortest period could be probably three days, which is only enough to get a taste of the capital, but for that stay the best is to choose from the Budapest hotels in the downtown area. In three days you can visit the major sights, such as the Buda Castle, and St. Stephen’s Basilica, but not many more. In order to enjoy yourself in this wonderful town, we advise you to come for at least 5 days, give yourself some time to sink into the famous spas of Budapest as well as the cultural treasures that the Opera House can offer.

Regarding the timing: not easy to decide! Summer months are of course more crowded, and a little bit hot, but almost all of the Budapest hotels offer air-conditioned rooms nowadays. In the summer you can enjoy Formula 1, Sziget, and other great festivals, but if you choose to come that time, book in advance! In the spring you can enjoy the famous Spring Festival, and in the fall, the Fall Festival. In winter, the world-famous Christmas Fair offers beautiful handmade presents and pleasant atmosphere, and you can experience skating in the middle of the town next to the picturesque Vajdahunyad Castle behind Heroes Square.

Whichever season you choose, Budapest has a lot to offer!
