Gellért Baths

The grandest of all baths amongst Budapest spas is Gellért Thermal Bath, which is situated in the heart of Budapest, at the foot of Gellért-Hill on the Buda side of the city.

Gellért Hill, with its picturesque view over the Danube, hides a great number of thermal springs. These springs supply Gellért Bath Complex with thermal water.

The elegant Hotel and Spa Complex was built in Art-Nouveau style in 1918. Outdoorpools were added later, and today it combines modern technical development with rich historical heritage. It has indoor and outdoor swimming pools, children's pool, thermal baths, steam bath, saunas. Gellért Spa offers various massages and medical services, the best ones compared to the other Budapest spas. The hot spring water is rich in magnesium, calcium, sulphate-chloride, hydrogen-carbonate, fluoride ions, and sodium. If you do not have time to soak in the pools, spend some time with admiring the marvellous interior: colourful ceramic tiles, Roman-style columns, stone lion heads, and glass roof.

The outdoor pool was modernized not long ago when a wave machine was built in. It switches on for ten minutes in every hour. The steam baths are separated for men and women. The decks on the roof terrace invite you to lie down in the summer and sunbathe. 13 mineral springs are supplying Budapest Gellért Spa with water at a temperature varying between 27°C and 48°C. The curative water is particularly effective in treating joint and muscle damage, metabolism related problems and neuritis.
