In the shadow of the Pilis mountains lies Szentendre, often described as the artistic centre of Hungary.

All year round tourists come here to explore this idyllic little town which, despite of its reputation for being small, actually houses more than 20 000 inhabitants.

The settlement of Szentendre stretches all the way back to the Stone Age. Throughout Hungary’s turbulent history of sieges and wars, Szentendre has stayed a trade center for crafts, food and wine. The oldest part of town, where trading and business blossomed, lies by the river Danube and this part of the town is now visited by tourists to explore a multitude of antique shops, galleries and markets. Here you can also find several fancy restaurants and cozy cafes.
